What about infant baptism?

Published on: June 12th, 2024

Infant baptism is a hotly debated topic in the religious world today. This is somewhat surprising since, if you simply refer to the Bible, the issue seems clearer. One question often raised is whether infants need to be baptized. Some religious groups argue that babies are born in sin and thus need baptism. However, what does the Bible say about this? According to John 12:48, the Bible is the standard by which we will be judged. Acts 17:11 encourages us to examine the scriptures to see if these things are true. Interestingly, references to infant baptism are not found in the Bible. It is only about 220 years after the death of Christ that we see any mention of it, in the writings of Tertullian. In the New Testament, several passages about baptism seem to exclude infants. For example, in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus taught that those who were baptized were to be taught to observe all things He commanded. This implies that the baptized individuals must be capable of understanding and learning, which excludes infants.

We encourage all to open their Bibles, be noble, and seek the Bible's truth (Acts 17:11).

Should we observe the Sabbath?

Published on: June 3rd, 2024

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8) is one of the Ten Commandments recorded in the Old Covenant. Some people argue that we need to observe the Sabbath law today. However, that is not what the Bible teaches. In Ephesians 2:14-15 and Colossians 2:14, the Bible tells us that the Old Law was taken out of the way, nailed to the cross, and blotted out. The sacrifice of Christ did away with that Old Law. According to the writer of Hebrews, it is the blood of that Covenant that brought forth the New Testament, under which we are to live now. Given this, it is no wonder that the Apostle Paul states in Galatians 5:4 that if we seek justification through the Old Testament, which was taken away by the sacrifice of Christ, we are severed from Christ. Christ has become of no effect to us, and we have fallen from grace.

We encourage all to open their Bibles, be noble, and seek the Bible's truth (Acts 17:11).

Is marriage between a man and a woman?

Published on: May 28th, 2024

Is marriage between a man and a woman? Yes and no. You might wonder why I answered it both ways. It all depends on the authority you choose to follow. If you look to God, He made it plain. As the Lord spoke in Matthew 19, from the very beginning, He created them male and female and said, "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh." Then He added, "What God has joined together, let no man put asunder." The Apostle Paul reiterated this in 1 Corinthians 7:2: "To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and every woman have her own husband." This tells us that God's plan is for marriage to be between a man and a woman; otherwise, it is fornication. However, if you allow man to define terms, you can come up with all sorts of ideas. Man can redefine faith, salvation, heaven, and anything else. But God has made it clear that the result of not having Him as the authority is disastrous, as evidenced in the Book of Romans.

We encourage all to open their Bibles, be noble, and seek the Bible's truth (Acts 17:11).

How many genders are there?

Published on: May 25th, 2024

How many genders are there? You'd think that's a simple question, but if you look it up on Google, you'll find different answers: one source might say 70+, another might say 300+, and some even claim it's limitless. But is that true?

Before the mid-20th century, the concept of gender was primarily discussed in terms of grammar—masculine and feminine. However, as society evolved, definitions began to change. People started describing gender as something internal, distinct from biological sex, which is traditionally categorized as male and female.

But what does the Bible say? For many, this is the ultimate source. In the first chapter of Genesis (1:27), it is written that God created humans as male and female. Further, in Genesis chapters 4 and 5, Adam and Eve's children are referred to as sons and daughters. Jesus also reiterated this in Matthew 19:4, stating, "Have you not read that in the beginning He created them male and female?"

Throughout the scriptures, this binary understanding of gender as male and female is consistently taught as both a biological and Biblical fact. So why is there so much confusion today?

We encourage all to open their Bibles, be noble, and seek the Bible's truth (Acts 17:11).
