Are you choosing God?

Are you choosing to follow God? In Joshua 24:15, a verse many are familiar with, Joshua addressed the people, saying, “Choose you this day whom ye will serve.” Essentially, there were only two options: serve the Lord, as Joshua and his family chose to do, or follow the ways of the world or the traditions of one's ancestors. This same choice confronts each of us today.
In the book of Acts, chapter 2, we find the fulfillment of God's promise to build His church, as Jesus had declared in Matthew 16:16-18. On the day of Pentecost, this promise came to fruition, but the people present faced a decision. They had crucified the Son of God, fallen into sin, and thus were subject to the death sin brings (Romans 6:23). Yet, God offered them another path. They were called to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins, with the promise of receiving the Holy Spirit. Those who accepted this offer and embraced the word of God were added to the church, as recorded in Acts 2:47.
This choice—between following God or turning away—remains just as relevant for us today.
