How can one be pleasing to God? It's a universal desire to please those we respect and honor, and God is no exception. The Book of Hebrews, in its 11th chapter, makes it clear that pleasing God requires faith. The scripture plainly states that without faith, pleasing Him is impossible. The passage emphasizes that those who come to God must believe in His existence.

However, stopping at mere belief isn't sufficient. James, in the 2nd chapter, verses 17 to 24, underscores that faith without works is dead. In other words, a genuine relationship with God goes beyond mere belief; it involves putting faith into action. This perspective is crucial because, as the passage continues in verse 6, it adds that those who come to God must not only believe in His existence but also acknowledge Him as a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

So, what does it mean to diligently seek God? Examining the context reveals that faith is defined in action. It involves actively pursuing a relationship with God through works and a sincere commitment to seeking Him. In essence, to be pleasing to God, one must go beyond passive belief and engage in a dynamic, faith-driven relationship characterized by both belief and action.
